Does my phone need internet?

No. You need mobile network coverage and the ability to send and receive SMS. The Barta gateway and server connect to AI services over the internet on your behalf.

Can I use a button phone?

Yes. Barta is designed around ordinary SMS, so you do not need a smartphone. Bangla display and typing depend on your phone; you can also write in Banglish or English.

Is it free?

Your operator's usual SMS charges apply. Long messages can use multiple SMS segments. Public service terms will be confirmed with the pilot launch.

Can Barta give me directions?

You can ask for route guidance by describing where you are and where you want to go. SMS does not share your GPS location automatically. Check routes and current travel conditions before relying on an answer.

Is this an emergency service?

No. Barta's pilot alert workflow depends on configured human responders. It cannot guarantee a response or dispatch help. Use the official emergency services directly when urgent help is needed.
